A:Parkland offers state-of-the-art facilities designed with your retirement living needs in mind. In addition to caring and professional staff being onsite 24 hours per day should you need them, clients living at any of Parkland’s campuses have the benefit of a minimum of two-meals per day prepared by an executive chef, weekly housekeeping, weekly linen laundry service, transportation service and many recreation and leisure activities.
A:While Parkland is designed and built with retirement living in mind, there is no minimum age requirement. Parkland sites are designed to accommodate a variety of interests, activity levels, services and needs and are based around the concept of “aging in place”.
A:Yes, clients in Lifestyle Apartments and Hospitality and Wellness may bring their own belongings to furnish their Parkland suite.

A:Shannex has a revised Medication Reconciliation (MedRec) procedure at all sites. A MedRec form must be completed during all transitions of care to/from Shannex.

In order to complete a medication reconciliation, we need to begin by creating a comprehensive list of medications you currently take. The list should include all prescription medications, herbal supplements, vitamins, nutritional supplements and any over-the-counter drugs, as interactions can occur between prescribed medication, over-the-counter medications, or dietary supplements. Without a MedRec we cannot administer medications. Your input is vital to a safe and smooth transition of services.

A:The availability of nursing staff on site depends on the Parkland campus and building. To see if your preferred campus has 24/7 nursing staff, please contact the Lifestyle Consultant.
A:The cost of living at Parkland varies based on the campus, building and level of service. For more information about Parkland services and pricing, please contact Parkland.
A:Everything is included in one easy monthly bill; meals, transportation, all utilities (cable, power, local phone) and accommodations. The price will vary depending on the type of suite and services you choose.
A:Contact the Lifestyle Consultant at the campus you are interested in, and they will be happy to guide you through the process.
A:A month-to-month lease will need to be signed to move in to any Parkland site.
A:Rent increases may occur annually. Before any rate increase takes place, clients are provided with a generous notice period.
A:Like any other inclusive accommodation arrangement, if you decide not to attend dinner in the dining room, credits will not be carried forward.
A:You are welcome to have guests stay but we ask that you are present for their visit.
A:Yes. Your guests are welcome to come and stay with you for up to two weeks at a time. Should you require a cot for your guest or any other services to accommodate their stay, please see the front desk.
A:There are no curfews for the building. This is your home and you keep the hours that you wish. Please note, many of the services offered at Parkland are offered during specific scheduled hours. For more information see the front desk or speak with the Lifestyle Consultant.
A:Yes they can. Even if one person requires more care than the other, couples can remain together in the same suite. Additional care services can be acquired as needed.
A:Clients are permitted, and are encouraged, to decorate their suites. This is their home and it should be reflective of their tastes and preferences and the things that are dear to them. Major changes such as painting, however, are not encouraged and must be discussed with Parkland management.
A:Parkland has staff onsite 24 hours per day, seven days per week.
A:Any security concerns can be directed to the front desk. If it is a medical emergency, clients can simply access their portable emergency call system, the emergency call panel located in their suite, or in building common areas and someone will be alerted to respond to you.
A:No, rent is on a month-to-month basis.
A:Yes, guest meals must be paid for which can be easily arranged at the front desk.
A:Clients who have a vehicle and a valid driver’s license will be assigned a parking space.
A:Parkland recognizes the importance of your spiritual needs and is pleased to offer weekly religious services. Locations and times for religious services vary between campuses.
A:Transportation services are available for clients to access primarily for medical appointments, trips and personal outings based on availability.
A:Retirement living is all-inclusive independent living but without the responsibilities of home ownership. There are services that are included, such as dining, housekeeping and laundry that free up time for other things, and there is security in knowing staff is on hand if and when you need them.
A:Parkland campuses are not licensed nursing homes, but we do offer assisted living and enriched care services to accommodate the individual needs of every client.
A:We have 14 Parkland locations currently; eight in Nova Scotia, five in New Brunswick and one in Ontario.
